Red Sox Vs. Rays

The Red Sox continued their hot streak against the Devil Rays, Ryan looked a little nervouse before the game (below), but he did a great job playing the whole game at short stop. There was a random rain storm in the middle of the game (thankfully Derek and I had Dad's golf umbrella), they played through it and eventually it passed.

Red Sox vs. Reds

Ryan had baseball games Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Due to my bedrest, I could only go to the game today (Saturday), so Tuesday I sent the camera with Derek....low and behold, the battery was dead...my bad! :) The following is a pic and video Derek took of the Red Sox taking on the Reds.

Kid Pitch Baseball

It is that time of year folks! Baseball has begun! Last year Ryan played in the "Minors", where they have a mcahine pitch to the batters, all of the teams were named after real minor league teams and Ryan played fo the Trenton Thunder. This year, we weren't sure if Ryan was going to play in machine pitch or kid pitch, so he went through the draft for both. The kid pitch league is mostly 9 and 10 year olds, with some 11 year olds and some 8 year olds mixed in. The other interesting thing about this league is that they can now steal bases too. Ryan is 1 of 5 - 8 year olds in the "majors", so now he gets to play in the kid pitch league for none other than the Boston Red Sox. Here he is below modeling his nice uniform (Charlotte - be sure to show Justin, he will be so proud).

Below is Ryan and Gunner chatting in the dugout.

Ryan at bat.

Very focused base runner at 3rd....he scored.

Below is a great video, Ryan is walked, but they are teaching the kids to hustle, even when they get walked, so I love Ryan sprinting down to first base. I also love his little turn and look once he gets there.....enjoy!

After the Red Sox beat the Mariners, we celebrated at Red Robin.

My boys....notice the hat Derek stole from me? Gotta support those Sox!

Weekend Update

Derek and I had a great weekend! Friday night I was beat from a long exhausting week at work, so we layed low and didn't do much. Saturday, Derek went and watched Ryan play baseball while I rested. When Derek got home, we got ready for probably our last date night without needing a babysitter. :) We went to Machiavelli's on Pine street, it is a great little Italian restaurant that makes fabulous Gnocchi and Chicken Parmesan. Then Derek took me to see Cats - the musical. Derek has seen Cats many times, but this was the first time I have seen the show. It was great, the music was fun and the costumes were fantastic. I have a hard time following a show that the dialogue is in the song lyrics....Derek was good at giving me the cliff notes during the show. It was really hard for me to sit still, I have restless leg syndrome something feirce these days, but I made it....without any extra bathroom breaks even! :) Thank you Derek for a wonderful date night! Love you!

Sunday, my Dad picked Derek up and they went and played golf....Derek hasn't played golf since we were in Hawaii in August, so needless to say, he is beat up, and now relaxing on the couch. :) Mom picked me up about the same time and off to Babies R Us we went...coupons in hand! We got our carseat and stroller "travel system", many packages of diapers and wipes, and a diaper bag. Mom and I then had to assemble the stroller, which went better than expected considering I was helping....lol. So now, if Peanut were to get here tomorrow, we are as ready as we are going to get. I am sure there are 800 things that we don't have, but at least we can get her home from the hospital and figure the rest out as we go.

Work Update

Well, we got everything worked out so that I can do 1/2 days from home. I think that my opinions of the Hyatt have changed pretty significantly in the past few days, but we got everything worked out so that I can continue to follow Doctor's orders. :)

Had our bi-weekly non-stress test today and Peanut was a little wiggle worm! She wanted NOTHING to do with the thing monitoring her heartbeat. It was actually pretty funny. The test is supposed to take 20-40 minutes and it took us 1 1/2 hours! Ugh. Good news is my BP was 127/74, lower than it has been, so maybe this 1/2 day stuff is working. 2 weeks to go!

I have some pics/videos of Ry playing for the Red Sox, I will try to get those up asap!! They are 3-0 so far! :) BTW.....kid pitch games are WAY longer than machine pitch!

Peanut Update

Well, I got bad news last Thursday that my wonderful Urine test came back positive for protein, which means that I have Preeclampsia. Right now, it is pretty mild, but it is one of those weird things that can progress quickly. Typically, the affect of preeclampsia is a small baby because they are not getting enought nutrients because of the high blood pressure, clearly not an issue with Peanut. The only way to "cure" PE is to have the baby delivered. Right now our goal is to make it to the month of May before we deliver, this will get us to 37 weeks where her lungs will be much more developed and she wont' be considered a preemie. I am also going to have the "non-stress" tests twice a week so they know immediately if Peanut is under any kind of stress. Should my blood pressure change significantly or the non-stress tests come back bad (I don't really know if bad is the right word) they will induce me so that both of us stay healthy. So my Doctor advised me to have a reduced work schedule, working 1/2 of the day from work and1/2 the day from home. I thought this sounded like a great idea as with a hotel laptop, I can basically perform about 90% of my job duties. My boss, however, thought this was a terrible idea and is fighting it as much as she can. It is really dissapointing that after 10 years with the Hyatt this is how I am being treated. I have another meeting tomorrow with the powers that be, and we will see what happens.

Peanut has been moving around a lot, which is a good sign, recently it has felt like a cat laying on my stomach pawing at me. She doesn't kick as much, but is definitley my little wiggle worm. She just needs to stay put for 2 more weeks and we can meet her! :)

Dr. Appointments

Well, Derek and I had our first "interesting" Doctor appointment on Tuesday.

First we had an ultrasound, it was so fun to see Peanut again, we haven't seen her in 9 weeks. :) She looked good, there aren't really any good pictures to post because she is getting big and the ultrasound comes out fuzzy because they are too close. She is measuring in at a whopping 5lbs. 14 ounces. She is only 2 ounces smaller then when I was born! She got tired of letting the ultrasound tech poke at her and she kicked the thing poking her, making the lady's hand jump off my belly...I think it was one of her strongest kicks yet! (and pretty funny)

I still have high blood pressure, though it is has not increased over the past few visits, so the Doctor had us go through several tests. The first is a "non-stress" test where they hook my belly up to a fetal monitor and check her heartrate as she moves around, when she moves, it is supposed to go up, when she is not moving, it should go back down. All went well with this test, she even got the hiccups in the middle of it which kept Derek and I entertained.

Then I had to get blood drawn and get my equipment for my "24 hour urine test". Blood drawn - no big deal. Urine test - mortifying. Doing the pee test required me to collect ALL of my urine for 24 hours and keep it in a big jug, so I started yesterday morning and ended this morning. The fun part was that I had to keep it refrigerated! So I had housekeeping bring a fridge to my cube and I had "special equipment" I had to take to the bathroom every time I went....which is a lot! It was pretty embarassing and just GROSS!

Then today I had to go into Maternal Fetal medicine and have another ultrasound, this one is a little more high tech and they check more of the blood flow through the umbilical cord, brain, etc. everything looked good, and my blood pressure was actually lower today then it has been in the past. Funny thing is that today she measured 6lbs 5 ounces! I think there is some good room for error with these measurements depending on who is doing the ultrasound.

I met with a different doctor today then my normal doctor, she said that everything looks ok, they are just being careful with my high blood pressure. The urine test will determine if I have pregnancy hypertension or if I have preeclampsia. The good news is that the baby looks big and healthy, she was even doing her "practice breathing" to get her lungs ready for the outside world.

My regular doctor did say that it is unlikely that I will make it to my due date (May 21st), she said I would probably get to 38 or 39 weeks then be induced to make sure everything stays ok. So we may get to meet Peanut earlier than expected! :)

We will keep you updated on the progress, we are going to start going to the doctor every week, and have the non-stress test 2 times a week. I have never been to the doctor this much in my whole life. :)

Baby Showers

Sorry this post is so late...there is lots going on! I had both of my baby showers, one the weekend of the 27th and the other was the weekend of the 5th. The first was at my Mom's house put on by my Sister, Mom and Aunt. It was so wonderful to see friends that I haven't seen in a long time, and my family. My sister did a great job with the treats...below are the rattle shaped red velvet cupcakes.

The beautiful diaper cake! No...you can't eat it!

Thanks Mom, Katie and Celaine for a great shower, thanks to everyone for the lovely gifts, Peanut will love them!

The following weekend, we went to Judy's house for the shower for my friend's (as opposed to family) put on by Judy and Julie. Sorry...I am having difficulty with pictures....I will try to post some soon. My friend Charlotte was able to make it all the way from Spokane to visit with her son Caden, it was great to see both of them. Caden and Derek were the best of buds, I wasn't sure which one was the 2 year old. ;) The big surprise of the weekend was that my friend Brenda flew up from Sacramento to surprise me! It was so great to see her and catch up on good times. The shower was lovely, the "project" of the shower was that everyone had to design their own onesie with puffy paint or paint markers. They were so creative! Peanut will have some stylin options to choose from. Again, so great to catch up with some friends I haven't seen in a while. Thank you everyone for making it so special!

Quick Update...

This will be a quick update...this week has been crazy! I have been working like a maniac, I guess that is a good thing, but I am more tired these days, so it does get pretty old. My wonderful husband has been really nice about picking me up or taking me to work so I don't have to take the bus and can sleep in a little...thanks honey!

Last weekend my sister and Mom put on a baby shower for me. It was so great to see some old friends and family! It deserves it's own post...that will be coming soon.

End of an Era:
Tuesday Derek and I went up to Alderwood to find me some pants....long story....so on the way home I got pulled over and got a speeding ticket. This was the first time I have been pulled over for speeding sine 1995!!!! I was so proud of my 12 year streak of not getting a speeding ticket, I was not so happy about this! Technically, in 1995 I didn't really get a speeding ticket thank you to the Colfax Police officer who did not properly fill out his paper work...so then I guess my streak goes back to high school. Even with my speeding ticket (49 in a 35...oops! totally got me!), that doesn't put me any where close to my sister who has many many many more than me...and in two countries as well! :)

What kind of police officer gives a pregnant lady a speeding ticket anyways? I should have given him the excuse that I needed to pee!

Other updates:
Derek and Ryan had a great weekend together while I was at the baby shower and working on Sunday (boo). Couple of great Ryan quotes from the weekend:

Emily: Ryan what do you mean?

Ryan: Well, FOR INSTANCE, when dad.....

I don't know that I said "for instance" until I was in high school...ha ha ha.

Basketball announcer on TV: UConn is out to their largest lead of the game.....5 points

Ryan: Largest Lead of the game! Dad...that's ONLY two posessions! Seriously!

Funny kid!

Peanut Update:
Houston, I think we have a name.....well, we at least have a favorite with a back up. My no nickname theory that I have is apparently getting put to the wayside. You will all find out on the wonderful day when she gets here, but for now "we know something you don't know...neener neener". :)

I am getting bigger by the minute....I think we have grown alot in the past 2 weeks...moving around is getting harder and people are starting to make "waddling" comments. We have our 34 week appointment next Tuesday for our final ultrasound. More Peanut pictures to come...no 3D though. :)
