Nursery theme....

Mom and I went to the Burlington Coat Factory on Saturday to do some baby shopping. Now those that know me best know that I HATE shopping, it really is one of my least favorite activities. Prerequisite for me to go shopping: I have to be in a good mood, and you have to know that once i am done shopping WE are DONE shopping....there is no in between where we "just keep looking", when I am done, it is all over.

The surprise comes where....I don't really mind shopping for baby stuff! I...actually....had....fun??? Weird! Mom and I spent over 2 hours at BCF (which has a huge baby section by the way) and picked out a crib and the bedding set, hence, setting the nursery theme! Even amongst the "this is soooo cute" and the "oooo what about this one" on both mine and My Mom's part, I survived shopping!

The pictures below are of the valences that match the bedding (which is on order), thought you would all like to see it. I like it because it is girlie, but not over the top pink madness like some of them. The fabric also has some fun textures. What do you think?

Other than the bedding, we picked out a crib....not sure at this point who is going to be in charge of putting that together...Derek and I are both incompetent when it comes to this stuff. I am sure one of our friends can be bribed with wine! Kristi? Scottie? You did so good with the wine racks....lol. :)

Mom and I had a fun day shopping (still can't believe I am saying that), apparently I just needed a kid to shop for!!

The count down is on....

Thanks for the link Katye! I have added the count down to Peanut's arrival on the side of the blog page...only 118 days to go!

On the subject here is the latest update...

I am almost to my third trimester if you can believe it! I think the first trimester went by really slow and the second has gone by pretty quick.

I am definitely in maternity clothes now, it is quite evident that I am "with child" lol. Haven't gotten on a scale lately and don't really intend to, but I think I am in line with where I should be. (I say that not having any real idea!)

Now that we know Peanut is a girl, she has acquired a couple more nicknames...Lil Miss Pea and SweetPea. She is moving around a lot these days, there is always some gurgling of one kind or another in my abdomen (insert gas joke here Katie). Derek has felt her kick, it is still pretty weak, but getting stronger by the day. I was sitting in a meeting yesterday and got a definitive "kick" from her, it actually startled me, but didn't hurt.

What has been hurting is the heartburn...it is a killer! It has been pretty constant for about the past 2 weeks. I have a stash of Tums at home, in my desk and in my purse so they are available at all times. My stash ran out this week at work and it was a very painful experience. Sorry mom, the Walmart tums are just not the same!

I am in full baby gear mode, when I am not wanting to work or sitting at home, I have been reading a lot about different products...cribs, strollers, car seats etc. etc. There is SO much that you have to get and different safety factors to consider. I have been reading a book that helps determine what is worth spending money on and if the more expensive brands are really worth it. In most cases they aren't, you are just paying more money for the brand name.

We still haven't decided on a name, so by all means comment with any suggestions! Just because we aren't going reveal the favorite doesn't mean we are not open to suggestions. :)

That's the update...getting more and more excited by the day.

Birthday Part Dos

We had part 2 of Derek's birthday celebration on Sunday at our house. My Mom, Dad, Judy and Julie came to help us celebrate. My mom made a yummy red velvet cake in honor of the birthday boy.

Basketball shoes

These are the basketball shoes that Ryan got for Christmas, after carefully asking Ryan what his basketball team colors were, we place the blue stripes in the sides of his shoes. As you can see, his team colors are actually orange and black....and one of the orange inserts was nowhere to be found. He went with the one orange and one black shoe stripes. I got him explaining his shoes to my mom on video...kinda funny. :)

Basketball on Saturday

We had our first scheduling conflict with Derek and Ryan's basketball games this past Saturday. Ryan was playing in Arlington at 3pm and Derek was playing at 5pm in Bremerton. I was in charge of taking Ryan to his game. The final score was 10 - 6, Ryan's team the Mavericks were victorious, Ryan scored 5 of his teams 10 points! Way to go Ry! I tried to upload these in order 3 different times, and it is just not happening today. :) So watch the second one first (him driving to the hoop), then watch the first one (shooting free throws from being fouled driving to the hoop), and then watch the third one...its a surprise!

Happy Birthday Derek!

Yesterday was my wonderful husband's birthday! I am not going to tell you how old he is...he can tell you if you really want to know! :) I picked him up from practice and we went to Madame K's. It is a quirky pizza joint in Ballard that used to be a brothel. It is a small restaurant with funny decor...there are bras and nightgowns hanging all over the place. Patrons are encouraged to actually wear the nighties when they are dining, the people next to us did! Food was great, they had great blue cheese dressing and the dessert was a hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on to. Yummy!
Happy Birthday Derek!

Me and the birthday boy!
I went shopping after work...I had some gift cards to Motherhood Maternity (thanks to my dad & Vonda!), I got myself a new maternity outfit (as fashionably modeled here) and a few other shirts as well! I feel like I have literally doubled in size in the past week. I know it is just the beginning, but it will take some getting used to.

I guess I am showing huh? lol1

Basketball Fun...

Ryan had his first basketball game last Saturday in his new basketball league. He has graduated from the YMCA league and is now at the boys and girls club. The game was out in Monroe at 9am...that means we leave our house by about 8am...I demand a latte (decaf of course), Derek gets a Pepsi and we are on our way. The game Saturday was a good one and ended up tying in overtime.

Above is Ryan in warm ups. Below is him shooting free throws. Notice the clap when he misses the first one...he is not competitive or anything! :) Derek thinks the follow through on the second one is just great!

Watching the parents at the basketball games is always entertaining...these are 8 year olds and they get into it! Though thinking back, I remember being pretty serious about my 100 yard freestyle relay in the 8 and under category at summer swim league.

On a random side note....I saw the BEST MULLET EVER on an 8 year old that was playing in the next game. Business in the front....Party in the back. Sorry that I don't have a picture of it to share with you.

Snow fun...

This has been a crazy winter...we had snow for about 2 weeks, which is unheard of in Seattle....hello...we are at sea level! Most of the snow came before Christmas (and my new camera!), so here are some pics from our random snow storm on Sunday evening, we had at least two if not three times this much snow in round 1 of all the snowing.
Derek made a snow angel for me!

Belated Christmas...

One of my favorite (and most needed!) presents of 2008 was my new camera! Thanks Dad! We celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas at my Mom's house this year. Katie and Rob were supposed to fly in on the 22nd, and their flight got canceled due to snow. With all the weather problems Seattle had, they weren't able to reschedule their flight until Christmas day....and with his work schedule, that meant that Rob couldn't make the trip. We missed you!

So to keep with tradition, I procrastinated wrapping presents as long as possible and actually reached an all time low....wrapping Christmas day! Since I knew we weren't opening presents until Katie got home, I had the morning to wrap! Below is Mom's beautiful tree (and my Dad's foot!).

We didn't have Ryan for Christmas this year, so he had to open his presents later at our house. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Witt, Great Grandma Corrine, Steve and Kate for the presents! Check some of them out....

Ryan and Derek...do you all detect a theme for his presents?? Sports sports sports!
