Oh Canada!

I am super excited to report that Katie and Rob got scheduled for their immigration interview! Apparently this is the last step to getting Rob's visa to live/work in the US, at this interview if all goes well, they basically hand you over your papers and you are set. They will be in Montreal at the end of May, so hopefully by the fall they will be living back in the good ole USA!!!!

Congratulations to you both, I am so excited for you!

Nursery Time...

The majority of this weekend was spent watching basketball (poor huskies), however, yesterday was dedicated to decorating Peanut's room. Derek smartly "had plans" to meet a friend to watch the games, so I recruited my Mom, sister and Allison to assist with the project. I have mentioned this before, but I am totally useless (and so is Derek) when it comes to home improvement/decorating projects, so much help was needed.
Above is the "before picture"
This is Allison and Katie putting together the changing table/dresser. If I had been putting this together with Derek, not only would it have made both of us cry, but it would have taken weeks to put together. Thank goodness Allison had power tools!

My decorating crew! Thank you all!!!!! You have no idea how grateful Derek and I are!

The finished product! We are so happy with how it turned out, it is so CUTE!! (I think the word cute was used no less than 800 times yesterday!)
We are at 59 days....it will be here before we know it! :)

A night on the Town...

For Christmas my mom gave Derek, Ryan and I tickets to the Lion King that has been playing here in Seattle for a couple of weeks. The show was Ryan's first really big Broadway show, he was beyond excited for most of the day. We went out to dinner then headed down to the show. Ryan was literally sitting on the edge of his seat for the entire first act, he definitely has some Grandma Vicki gene's in him....he loved the show.
The boys before heading out..

The show was pretty long...it got out about 11pm...Ryan was wide awake for the whole show...but this was about 5 minutes after getting in the car. :)

Doctor Appointment

Derek and I had our Doctor appointment on Tuesday. This was the day of the dreaded glucola test that checks for gestational diabetes. For some reason, going in I was nervous about this one, but I am happy to report that we do not have any diabetes issues! My blood sugar did what it was supposed to, so I can check that off my list of things to worry about. :)

Peanut is measuring about 2 weeks ahead of schedule, my Doctor isn't too worried about it, she is probably just going to be a big baby, she said she would be concerned if I was 5 foot 2, but clearly I am not....lol. I do still have some high blood pressure, so the Doc advised I cut back on the salt intake...easier said that done, but I am sure working on it. EVERYTHING has sodium in it....hmmm this is a new one for me.

We are to the point where we will start going to the Dr. every 2 weeks, and she scheduled an ultra sound for 34 weeks (in one month) to double check Peanut's size. Yeah, I really like ultrasounds...it is fun to check in an see how she is doing....no 3D this time though. :(

Sleeping these days...

I have been in a very interesting sleep pattern the past week...what is even more interesting is that Derek is in the same pattern! Currently, I am getting up 3-4 times a night to use the bathroom (thanks Peanut). I am in the stage where I have to sleep on my side, which took some getting used to. We have been going to bed pretty early (9:30-10pm ish), I will fall asleep and wake up thinking that I have been asleep for say 5-6 hours, and will have only been an hour and a half! Several times I woke up thinking it was almost time to get up and it was only 1:30am! Can I tell you how great it is to think you are almost done sleeping and you still have 5 more hours!! Yeah! Derek has been doing the same thing, and we usually wake up at about the same time. Weird I tell ya!

I know this pattern will not last for long, but I am enjoying it while I can...I know there are many many sleepless nights ahead.

Husky / Cougar Basketball game

Dad and I met up for lunch and went to the WSU vs. UW basketball game on Saturday afternoon. We had a great time! As you all know, I am a fan of Husky basketball, yet still loyal to my wonderful WSU cougars. So needless to say I was conflicted on Saturday. Typically if the two teams are playing each other, I will wear pink...and try to stay neutral. Saturday I felt the need to root for the Huskies because if they won this game, they would be outright Pac-10 champs, this game really didn't have any sort of significance to the Cougars. So....I donned a purple shirt and off to the game we went. The minute we walked into lunch and saw a bunch of Cougar fans....I felt instantly guilty of being disloyal.
At the game, I really rooted for both teams, I enjoyed a great basketball game with my Dad and was happy with the outcome. Dad and I totally forgot to take a picture of us at the game, and in typical Roger form, Dad left with 42 seconds to go since he was convinced the Huskies were going to win. Derek came and watched the end of the game with me and reminded me that I had my camera...so I got some great pics below.
Final score with Lorenzo Romar addressing the crowd.

Senior Jon Brockman cutting down the net

The crowd rushing the court after the game.
To confirm my earlier post, Peanut loved the basketball game, my belly was basically a kicking/punching bag for the majority of the second half....it was REALLY loud in there! She is definitely going to be a basketball fan (let's face it....did she really have a choice in the matter????). Thanks Dad for a great time!

Another great thing about the prom....

Another one of the great things about our holiday party...aka...the prom. There was a caricature artist there that produced this beautiful portrait of me and Derek. I think it is hilarious. Enjoy!

Plan C it is....

Derek started working today for UBM - a copy company based in Kirkland. The job with the Storm didn't work out, but we are looking on the bright side and being thankful that we are both gainfully employed in a bad economy. Derek and I have been working such different hours for the past year that it was weird for us to be fighting over the bathroom while we both were getting ready for work. lol. Congratulations Derek, I am so happy for you. :)

Holiday Party

This is the time of year that us "hotel people" get to have our "holiday party"....since we are so busy in December, this is our annual shin dig. We felt pretty fortunate since most hotels did not have theirs (including the Hyatt in Bellevue), but with the opening of the new hotel, I think our senior managers wanted to reward us....because frankly...WE DESERVE IT!!! :) The theme was an evening in Paris...how very prom like! Thanks Hubby for going to the prom with me!

Not fair....Derek got to have champagne without me.... :(
Allison and her date "Hockey"...I think his real name is Matt...lol

Yes, the belly is getting bigger by the minute!!
