The Mountain is out....

So while I neglected to bring my camera over the weekend, I did get a beautiful view of Mt. Rainier Saturday morning when I got up early to take my dad to the airport....Saturday at 5:45AM never looked so good!

Memorial Day Weekend...

Well, I have failed my blog miserably. I forgot the camera on our trip for Memorial Day weekend. You will all just have to be ok with the verbal recount.

We went to Port Angeles on Saturday (after a 2 hour ferry wait) to see the Stewart family. Pete and company are doing good, the girls are getting HUGE! When I saw Hannah back in February/March she had a size 9 1/2 foot, now, she is up to me with a size 11!! Annika is 2 years younger than Ryan and she is now 2 inches taller than him. Crazy.

Saturday we went to watch the Wilder Baseball game, which is a summer league for 17-19 year olds. The games were fun to watch, when the kids got bored, they went to the outfield to run around and play with each other, Ryan had a great time. When Ryan got up Saturday and Pete said hi, Ryan's response was "wow, I haven't slept that well in ages!"....hmm not the typical response from an 8 year old. lol. The kids played all day Sunday at another Wilder game, then we went out to Sand Creek out by the ocean and hung out with some of Pete and Julie's friends. After all that, Pete, Derek and one of his buddies took the 3 boys to the college and had a mini-baseball practice. Hannah and I hung out in the outfield and played "chuck it" with Aussie the Stewart's lab. Needless to say, Ryan was asleep in the car before we got out of PA heading for the ferry Sunday night. We slept in late on Monday and lounged around...I did actually get laundry and dishes done, but that was it. It was a great weekend, the weather was beautiful and it was good to spend some time with the Stewarts.

And the winner is.....

Since Charlotte was the only one that voted on the picture, she is the WINNER!! Derek is the one standing on the right hand side....looks just like him now right?? :)

Which one is Derek???

With the holiday weekend coming up....I got a little "case of the Fridays"...even though it is only Thursday. So in all of my productiveness at work, I googled my husband. I know...I am a dork. However...this picture might provide some entertainment for you as it did for me! Stay tuned for a future post of which one he is. :)

Heat Wave....

As many of you know, us people here in Seattle are major weather wimps...its either too hot, too cold, too rainy blah blah blah. Well, we were in an uproar this weekend with the temp hitting 94 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday. WAY too hot for us rainy weather people! We typically don't get this kind of weather until July. The lake was full of boats and people out trying to get a piece of sunshine. We had a very nice weekend, we went to Monroe Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon for Ryan's baseball game. We got some action shots this time. :)

Nothing like standing on third base smiling for the camera. lol.
Dad was MUCH happier with Ryan's batting stance this weekend, on Sunday he was 3 for 4 with 3 or 4 RBI's. He was hitting the ball really well, which Derek tributes to them putting his batting stance back to where it belongs....where he taught him.

After the game on Saturday we went to the BluWater for some beers....now in our defense, it has been quite some time since we have been there....we were well behaved....sort of. ;)

Crappy Day...

So I had hoped to only post fun, happy things on this blog, but I guess that isn't the case. My mom called me today and told me that her house had been burgularized (sp??) yesterday afternoon. They went in and took all of her jewelry and some prescription drugs from her knee surgery. They used a crow bar to get in the side door of the garage, and left through another side door. Surprisingly enough, they didn't take any electronics - computers, tv's etc. which leads us to think that Mom coming home may have interupted their efforts. It is scary to think that they may have been in the house when she got home, the bright side is that Mom is safe and sound! Belongings can be replaced, but Mom's (especially mine!) cannot!

Mother's day weekend

Happy Mothers Day to all the momma's out there...Ryan drew a picture for Grandma Vicki and Great Grandma Corrine!

We had a packed weekend, I was off on Friday with a much needed comp day, Derek and I went up to Shoreline so he could get some work done, then we went to pick up Ryan in Monroe. Ryan was very excited to get up Saturday morning and learn that there was a package for him from Grandpa Mike and Vonda. he always luaghs at how much tape is on Grandpa's packages...definitely a two person job. Ryan was in a goofy mood, not wanting to put a shirt on, so he gave us a show of those 8 year old guns!!

We had some friends and family over Saturday night to help Ryan celebrate turning 8, we had some cake and opened some presents. Ryan was excited about his new swim trunks that are camo with skulls on it....will look good on the dock this summer!
After a long day of birthday bliss, Ryan went to sleep under his new Royals blanket!

2 Years....

Well, I can't believe it! Derek and I met 2 years ago today. Who would have thought that a random blind date from MySpace would have led to this! (thank you myspace, thank you Kristi!). Like I said in my first blog...once we get past the one year wedding anniversary, all of these other "anniversaries" will go away. We spent our first date at the Garage, a bar that has bowling and pool. Derek claims to have let me beat him at bowling, but I had no chance against him at pool. I felt instantly comfortable with him and we had our first kiss by the pool tables. I guess I didn't learn that whole "playing hard to get" game. lol. Anyways, we are celebrating tomorrow with date night, we are going to a restaurant called the King Fish Cafe, it is a restaurant that features Southern cooking - mac n' cheese, fried chicken, and red velvet cake. I had a client give me a gift certificate for planning their lesbian wedding. Their wedding cake was red velvet from this restaurant. Should be fun to check out.

Happy 2 years Derek, I love you with all my heart and am so happy that we were able to find each other. Everything happens for a reason. :)

Spring Cleaning

I know it is hard to believe...but our apartment is clean!!! Derek and I spent much of Sunday doing our spring cleaning, we sorted through a bunch of my infamous "piles". We still had some piles of wedding gifts that we hadn't started using yet, so in with the new, out with the old!! Of course, our vacuum is no longer sucking....isn't that its job?? It's fired. Anyone know how to fix it??

Weekend Adventures....

Some exciting family news....Katie and her boyfriend Rob are getting married!!! In 8 weeks!! So, Mom and I trucked up to Bellingham to go dress shopping...below is the "I just picked my wedding dress" celebration!! I am so happy for Katie and Rob and can't wait to be part of their day. Let the wedding madness begin! Didn't we just go through this?? :)

We went out Friday evening for Ryan's baseball game. He struggled a bit from the plate, which Derek accounts to his coach changing his hand position in his batting stance, but had some great plays both at shortstop and pitcher. The first picture below is one of my favorite pictures of Ryan. I also like the one of Derek wandering over to check on that hand position. lol

Below are some random pictures that I had on my camera...Ryan visiting me at work (we had just been over to the new hotel construction site), Derek and Ryan at the NWAACC tournament, and Ryan the waterboy at halftime of one of Derek's games.

Fun Pics

Thought I would post some fun pics to test my blogging skills.... ha ha ha

My First Blog....

Hi Everyone!
I thought I would join the wonderful world of blogging....several of my friends have shared their blogs and I think it is a great way to keep up with friends and family. As you know, Derek and I got married back in September....today is actually our 8 month anniversary! We need to get past the 1 year mark so we only celebrate this annually. :)
This is what has been going on the past few months:
Emily - I have been working, working, working....we have a catering manager on maternity leave, so there have been 2 people doing the work of 3. It has been great from a sales production standpoint, but it is a lot of work! We are getting closer to the opening of our new hotel..the Hyatt at Olive 8. The hotel opens in December as the first LEED certified Hotel in Seattle.

Derek has been very busy recruiting! He has received 7 letter of intents for future Lady Dolphins, those of you who suffered through last fall with me... will have a MUCH better team to watch next year! He had a chance this week to go out to Port Angeles and see his buddy Pete Stewart, they played several rounds go golf and Derek got to catch up with the Stewart clan.

Ryan finished up basketball season and has moved on to baseball. He has a great coach (if his dad thinks he's a good coach....he's a good coach!!). Ryan has been the starting short stop and has made several plays that made Daddy proud (that's MY boy!!). I am taking the camera to the game tonight, so we will hopefully have some pictures up soon.

I am still learning all this blog stuff, so I haven't quite figured out how to do the pictures and things yet...I will have to consult Cha Cha for some help. :) Thanks for checking out my first blog!
