Bachelortte Party...

From the Baby Shower to Bachelorette party...put some quality miles on the ole Honda this weekend. :) We had dinner at La Fiamma in Bellingham, it was nice enough to sit outside, so we kicked back, relaxed and got a good laugh at my sister for the last time as a single woman. The week before the party, I assigned my mom the task of coming up with a good veil and tiara for Katie to wear for the party. Mom came through in the clutch....although bride of Frankenstein and Indian Princess seem to come to mind when you look at the final product! It was definitely a head turner!

Sisterly Love!

Well, I had a crazy weekend with lots of activities. Shannon's baby shower was on Saturday at our friend Claire's house. We had a great time with brunch and presents and THANKFULLY no lame baby shower games! Shannon is due 8-8-08....we will see if we have an Olympic arrival!

Life Lessons...

I thought this was a great forward that was passed on to me....thought I would share it with you all. It is definitely something I can work on....

Life Lessons...
A life lesson for all of us. When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areasbetween the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar wasfull. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are theimportant things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. 'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf ball first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

'One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked..'The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.'

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there...mine and Derek's in particular! I had to work on Sunday, it was the first wedding I have booked at the hotel, for 440 people! It was a lunch wedding so it got over pretty early, and we headed up to Dad's for a BBQ. The weather was beautiful, much better than the "June-uary" weather we have been experiencing. Ryan played in the backyard the whole time with my best $1.67 purchase of a plastic ball!!

Ryan and I got up Father's day and pig piled on Derek! Ryan gave him a very cute card and some crafts he had made in school. I got him a golf polo and golf shorts and a few buckets of balls for him and Ryan at the driving range. From there we had a very marginal breakfast at IHOP, then off to work I went. I like this picture of Derek and Ryan, you can see how much they look alike!! :)

The Long Night...

We got the 3 am dreaded phone call early Saturday that Mike was having some problems getting his heart rate under control. Him and Vonda were in the Carribean on a cruise and not close to medical attention. To make a long story short, it was a scary couple of days and Mike is doing much better, he will be going back to Kansas City to see a cardiologist in the next couple of days. Mike..our thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. We love you!

Little League Champs!!

Ryan's team - the Trenton Thunder were in the championship against the Diamond Jaxx this weekend, the Jaxx jumped out to an early lead...5-0, but the Thunder came roaring back to win the game 13-6. Ryan was 2 for 4 and had some good plays in the field. The Thunder were 19-1 for the season...not bad for his first year of baseball! At the awards BBQ, Ryan got the "gold glove" award. One thing to take note of..trophies have gotten way cooler since I was little!

All the fans were out watching Ryan play in the Little League championship this past weekend!
Its Great to be the Champ when you are only 8!

The coaches got the kids with silly string

We're number 1!!!

Weekend...

We had a pretty relaxing weekend, Ryan's playoff games got canceled due to rain (shocker there...), so Friday night we went to see Kung Fu panda, which I thought was pretty good. The highlight of the movie for me was with 5 minutes left, Ryan crawled into my lap to snuggle up.....so cute. :)

Saturday was another rainy day (no baseball), so we went to another movie. I must have just been in the mood for movies since I haven't been to a movie theater in a very long time. I went to see Sex and the City while Derek and Ryan went to see Indiana Jones. Sex and the City brought back so many great NYC memories for me. The Penthouse that Carrie and Big looked at was about a block away from my old hotel (RIP Stanhope!). I have to give a shout out to my girls Stephanie, Brooke and Brenda....my NYC girls....love ya!
Sunday Derek had a couple of summer league basketball games (they lost, but are showing much promise for next year), and I had lunch and a walk around Greenlake with my good (and very pregnant) friend Shannon. She is due 8-8-08, so we will see when their bundle of joy arrives.

Recruiting Update

In a mission to not have to repeat the travesty known as the 2207-2008 Shoreline Women's basketball season, Derek has been busy recruiting new players. He has a lot of girls signed and is VERY excited about the group he has coming in. The following is a link to a website that has an article on one of his latest signees......check it out.

If anyone knows how to make that link "live"....let me know...I haven't figured that out yet. :)

Mike Visits Safeco

For those who don't know...Mike is a huge baseball fan, and even works part time for the Kansas City Royals. Mike has never been to Safeco Field...so for his 60th birthday, what better place to visit? The Mariners played the Detroit Tigers...it was a great game, lots of hits, some great plays in the field, and tied going to the bottom of the 9th inning JJ Putz and the M's. Well....4 runs in the top of the 9th against JJ ended our hopes of victory, but a Raul Ibanez (Derek's favorite player...in case you didn't know!!) hit a two run homer and we lost by two. Mike brought Ryan his first fitted baseball cap...its a little big, but seeing his ears stick out is quite possibly the cutest thing ever.

Saturday's Baseball Game

Saturday was Ryan's last "Pre Playoff" game...he left it all on the field...can't you tell?? Ryan had a good game, we think he was a little nervous playing in front of Grandpa...he was so excited to see him and was trying so hard. Ryan definitely has a competitive side, and always wants to do his best and HATES to not be the best. Hmmm...wonder where he gets that from.
